MALAYSIA will begin a phased nationwide implementation of its National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) from 31 March, marking a major step in digitising border control and strengthening national security.
The Home Ministry said the system will be introduced progressively across air, land and sea entry points, following a successful trial period that demonstrated its operational readiness.
The rollout is aimed at delivering a more efficient, faster and user-friendly immigration process while enhancing border security.
“The implementation will begin on a pilot basis at selected locations such as Senai International Airport, Johor (Air Mode) – 31 March 2026; the Bukit Bunga ICQS Complex (Land Mode) – 31 May 2026; and the Puteri Harbour International Ferry Terminal (Sea Mode) – 30 June 2026,” the ministry said in a statement today.
The phased deployment follows a trial period conducted between September 2025 and February this year, which confirmed the system’s readiness for expansion nationwide.
During the trial phase, several high-impact strategic initiatives were introduced, including the development and launch of the MyNIISe mobile application and the installation of eGate facilities at major international airports.
Additional measures included the implementation of QR code clearance systems at key entry points such as the Sultan Iskandar Building and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex, as well as the activation of the Advance Passenger Screening System (APSS).
The ministry also highlighted the establishment of National Immigration Command Centres in Putrajaya, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, alongside the strengthening of data infrastructure through high-capacity Data Centres and Disaster Recovery Centres.
“The success of this implementation is also supported by encouraging usage levels. As of 17 March, the MyNIISe application recorded 1,780,425 downloads with 897,673 registered users, including 616,730 Malaysian citizens and 246,946 Singaporean nationals.
“In addition, the implementation of the QR code system at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex has recorded millions of transactions, demonstrating the system’s capability to manage traveller flows quickly and efficiently,” the statement said.
The ministry said the rollout of NIISe forms part of the MADANI Government’s broader commitment to strengthening national security and improving the delivery of immigration services through comprehensive digitalisation.
Members of the public are encouraged to download the MyNIISe application in advance to ensure smoother immigration procedures as the system is progressively implemented. - March 27, 2026
