A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a high-impact collision in Klang after a driver, believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs, allegedly lost control while overtaking at speed.
The incident occurred at about 11.40am along Jalan Raya Barat on Sunday, when the victim, a man in his 30s, was struck and thrown onto another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Klang police chief Lim Jit Huey said preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a Honda City, a local man in his 20s, had been driving recklessly towards Klang town prior to the crash.
“Upon reaching the location, the driver is believed to have overtaken several vehicles before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the victim’s motorcycle.
“The impact caused the victim to be flung onto a Perodua Myvi before being confirmed dead. Urine screening also found that the suspect tested positive for alcohol and drugs,” he said in a statement.
Authorities are investigating the case under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers driving under the influence causing death, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police have appealed to witnesses or members of the public with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
Footage of the incident has since circulated widely on social media, appearing to show a car overtaking across a double line before crashing into a motorcycle, with the rider thrown onto another vehicle.
The case has renewed concerns over reckless driving and substance abuse on Malaysian roads, particularly the dangers posed by impaired drivers operating vehicles at high speed. - March 30, 2026
