KEPALA BATAS – Penang chief minister and DAP vice-chairman Chow Kon Yeow said he does not see the possibility of his party forming a new coalition with PKR and Umno to contest in the next general election.

He said that considering the current volatility of the political scene, he does not see the formation of a new pact.

Chow said this in response to Pulai Umno chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s statement urging Umno to leave Perikatan National.

Nur Jazlan had asked other Umno divisions to pass Pulai’s resolution in their annual delegate meetings, also saying that Umno was better off working with DAP and PKR to face the next general election.

To that, Chow said: “Our current political scenario is like the current pandemic. There are a lot of uncertainties and we are faced with political challenges.”

He said this after launching the Ekspo Agro-Tani at SP Setia Fontaines here today.

“The government has to consider the pandemic before calling for a general election.

“An election may be a way to break the (political) stalemate, but will it solve our country’s problems?” he asked. – The Vibes, January 3, 2021
