A MARRIED elderly couple was killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle collision along Kilometre 134 of the Kuantan–Kuala Lumpur highway in Temerloh yesterday afternoon.

Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the crash occurred at about 5.25pm when a Perodua Kancil travelling along the route was involved in a collision after another vehicle veered into the opposite lane.

He said the driver of the Kancil, Zulkifli Md Yusof, 72, died at the scene after being trapped inside the vehicle.

His wife, Radzuan Mohamad, 67, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh at about 8.55pm.

The couple’s 13-year-old grandson was also injured and is reported to be in critical condition, receiving treatment in the red zone at the same hospital.

Three other victims, all Malaysian Armed Forces personnel aged between 22 and 27 who were travelling in a Perodua Myvi, sustained injuries and are being treated in the yellow zone at Temerloh Hospital.

Preliminary investigations found that the crash occurred when the Myvi, driven by a 22-year-old man travelling from Kuantan towards Kuala Lumpur, lost control before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the Kancil carrying the elderly couple.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - April 20, 2026
