Bersatu rules out reinstatement of expelled members despite comparisons with UMNO

PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will not readmit any members who were previously expelled for disciplinary breaches, reaffirming a strict internal policy even as comparisons are drawn with other parties.

Its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said the decision remains unchanged because the party’s disciplinary board had found those individuals guilty of serious violations warranting firm action.

“If you want to compare with UMNO, that is a different matter. As of today, we are maintaining that decision,” he said when asked whether Bersatu might consider pardoning and re-accepting former members who had been dismissed months earlier.

Muhyiddin added that, so far, the party has not received any formal appeals from the affected individuals seeking reinstatement. - April 27, 2026
