THE Pakatan Harapan (PH) and UMNO Political Bureaus are scheduled to hold a joint meeting to discuss and negotiate several political matters at 8 pm today.

Sources from both parties who were contacted by Berita Harian confirmed that the meeting is scheduled to take place at the Sri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya.

The meeting, which will be attended by top PH and UMNO leaders, will also touch on the political turmoil that is occurring in Negeri Sembilan, especially regarding the action of UMNO State Assemblymen (ADUNs) to withdraw support from the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

"The Negeri Sembilan issue and several other matters, including matters related to the State Election (PRN), will be discussed," a source said briefly when contacted.

Asked whether the proposal to change the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar would be raised and decided, the source said it was subject to the conclusions of discussions and negotiations by all leaders tonight.

Matters related to elections, especially the state elections that are expected to take place in the near future, are among the focus of discussion at tonight's meeting, in addition to those related to the administration of the Unity Government.

"The issue of cooperation, the distribution of seats for the state elections, is expected to be discussed tonight," the source said, also confirming that PH Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would co-chair the meeting.

Ahmad Zahid, in an interview in conjunction with UMNO's 80th Anniversary last week, announced that the PH and UMNO Political Bureaus were scheduled to meet this week.

This morning, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook instructed the entire party machinery to prepare for the possibility of a surprise state election in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor following current political developments.

He said the decision to mobilise the party machinery's readiness was made after the attempt to topple the Unity Government in Negeri Sembilan failed, thus increasing the possibility of a snap election in several states. – May 5, 2026
