A 19-YEAR-OLD suspect is set to be charged this Thursday in connection with the murder of a teenage girl who was found dead with 61 stab wounds in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, last Friday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspect has been identified as the main accused and will be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“A second suspect, also aged 19, will be released on police bail.

“So far, the investigation into the case is about 70 per cent complete. We will submit the investigation papers to the prosecution once everything is completed,” he said when contacted on Monday.A second 19-year-old suspect in the case will be released on police bail, he added.

The victim, identified as Nurfisya Zulkifly, 19, was discovered dead on Friday in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, after sustaining 61 stab wounds and being abandoned by the roadside.

According to Mohd Yusoff, preliminary forensic findings showed the injuries extended from the face down to the legs, with most of the wounds concentrated on the right side of the victim’s body.

Following the discovery, four individuals were initially remanded to assist investigations, including an elderly couple.

Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid had earlier granted a seven-day remand order for the two 19-year-old male suspects, running from Saturday until this Friday.

The elderly couple, aged 66 and 60, were also detained but were subsequently released on police bail on Sunday. - May 5, 2026
