AN alleged bullying incident involving a group of senior students and male juniors in the 2025/2030 session at a Teacher Education Institute (IPG) in Kuching has sparked concern, especially among parents.
According to the allegation, which was spread on social media, the incident occurred early Friday morning.
A group of seniors allegedly gathered all the male juniors before committing various forms of insults, abusive words and immoral acts against them, reported Harian Metro.
A woman whose son is a trainee at the IPG, when contacted, said she regretted the allegations and called for a thorough investigation to be carried out to stop the culture of bullying among prospective educators.
"It is very regrettable if what is alleged is true. Bullying should not happen because, as we know, many undesirable incidents have occurred as a result of such acts.
"I was shocked after reading the allegations and worried if my child was one of the victims," she said, declining to be identified.
"It is indeed very sad when prospective teachers are treated and educated in an immoral and shameful culture," she said.
Among the allegations were forcing juniors to squat, perform indecent acts and repeatedly make obscene noises if instructions were not followed.
The situation allegedly occurred in front of other students, causing embarrassment and stress to the victims.
In addition, there were also allegations that several students were called forward to imitate certain actions, and one junior was even said to be made fun of.
The victim was also allegedly called with insulting nicknames such as 'dog' and 'pig', in addition to being instructed not to bring mobile phones and watches during the session. – May 11, 2026
