PANIC erupted during an Aidiladha sacrificial slaughtering programme in Kelantan after a bull suddenly turned aggressive and charged at participants, injuring a man who did not manage to escape in time.

The incident occurred between 10.30 am and 11 am at Taman Kesedar Putra 1 in Gua Musang during a community korban event attended by villagers and volunteers.

The victim, 29-year-old Fahmi Ibrahim, suffered injuries to his right big toe, knee and right palm after being struck by the animal, which reportedly broke free while awaiting slaughter.

According to Fahmi, the bull involved was the sixth and final sacrificial animal scheduled for slaughter that day.

Moments before the incident, he had just completed moving portions of beef to a distribution tent for cutting and packaging when the animal suddenly became uncontrollable.

“The situation caused people attending the programme to scatter in panic. Before that, three other individuals had nearly been gored by the bull, but they managed to avoid it,” Kosmo! online reported him saying.

Fahmi said he was unaware that the animal had approached him from behind before it charged.

“I did not realise the bull was behind me before it gored me and sent me flying. At first, I was traumatised by the incident,” he said.

“After thinking about it again, it became a rather funny incident. Fortunately, I was not seriously injured and only suffered injuries to my right big toe, knee and right palm after being flung by the bull.”

Despite the frightening experience, Fahmi said the incident would not discourage him from participating in future korban programmes with residents.

Earlier, footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing the moment the man was launched into the air after being struck by the sacrificial bull.

The chaotic scene triggered moments of panic among volunteers and members of the public assisting with the slaughtering and meat preparation activities, with some individuals later seen attempting to chase down the runaway animal. - May 28, 2026
