TWO men were killed and three others injured after a car carrying four occupants crossed into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with a lorry transporting durians along Jalan Lipis-Benta in Pahang on Tuesday night.

The collision occurred at about 9.20pm at Kilometre 18 of the Lipis-Benta road near the Benta Road Transport Department (JPJ) office.

Lipis District Police Chief Superintendent Ismail Man said preliminary investigations indicated that the car, driven by 47-year-old Ng See Jou, was travelling from Kelantan towards Kuala Lumpur with three Chinese nationals on board.

The lorry, driven by a 37-year-old Malaysian, was travelling in the opposite direction from Raub to Kelantan to deliver a load of durians.

"Upon reaching the scene, the car is believed to have entered the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the lorry travelling from the opposite direction."

"As a result of the collision, Ng See Jou and a Chinese passenger, whose identity has yet to be established, were pronounced dead at the scene after suffering severe injuries," he said in a statement released on Wednesday.

The lorry driver and the two surviving Chinese passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Hospital Lipis for treatment.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or has information relating to the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation. - June 17, 2026
