153 police reports filed against Puad Zarkashi

POLICE have opened investigations into the statement issued by Johor State Legislative Assembly Speaker (DUN), Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, via social media after receiving 153 police reports nationwide as of 3 pm, today.

Johor Police Chief, Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad, said two police reports were also filed by a former Johor State Exco and Political Secretary to the Johor Menteri Besar at 10.53 am and 12.13 pm, Thursday.

"As of 3 pm, a total of 153 police reports have been received throughout Malaysia, and the police expect the number to increase," he said in a statement.

He said the investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 involved acts that had a seditious tendency, while Section 505(b) of the Penal Code related to statements made with the intent to cause fear or alarm to the public.

The public is advised to respect the ongoing investigation process and not make any comments or speculation that could cause public alarm.

“The police will take strict action against any individual found abusing network facilities or application services for illegal purposes.

“The cooperation of all parties is essential to ensure that the digital space remains a safe platform and fosters a culture of mature, factual and respectful communication for the sake of social well-being and national stability,” he said. – June 25, 2026
