Banting school stabbing: Suspect remanded four days as police probe attempted murder

A 15-YEAR-OLD female student suspected of stabbing a fellow student at a secondary school in Banting has been remanded for four days as police intensify investigations into the incident.

The remand order was granted by Magistrate Maslinda Selamat at the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Langat today.

Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the remand period would allow investigators to conduct further inquiries, including gathering evidence and recording statements from relevant parties.

"We will continue with further investigations into the suspect, including taking into account all statements and evidence obtained.

"As stated earlier, the investigation is being conducted under Section 307 of the Penal Code," he said. Section 307 of the Penal Code relates to attempted murder.

Mohd Akmalrizal also urged the public to refrain from spreading speculation or unverified information, warning that such claims could interfere with the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, lawyer S Vijeswari Devi from the Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), who is representing the suspect, confirmed that her client is a person with a disability.

"My client is autistic. That is all I can say," she said.

The remand proceedings attracted media attention outside the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court, although the suspect, who is also a student at the school, was not seen by reporters.

She was believed to have arrived at the court at around 8.10am in a police vehicle before leaving approximately an hour later.

The incident occurred at about 9.30am on Monday when a Form Three female student was allegedly attacked and stabbed multiple times on several parts of her body, including her back, shoulder and face.

The victim was immediately taken to Hospital Banting for further medical treatment.

Police believe the suspect entered the school compound through the main entrance before the incident took place.

At the time, the suspect was reportedly wearing a black T-shirt and red-and-black checkered trousers. She was also reported to have been absent from school for several months and was undergoing health treatment.

Earlier, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that only one suspect was involved in the incident.

He urged the public, particularly parents and the local community, to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while investigations are ongoing.

"I advise parents and the local community not to worry about this incident because the situation at the school remains stable and under control.

"We must trust the capability of the authorities and avoid spreading speculation that could create panic," he said. - July 7, 2026
