A FORM Two student at a sports school in Kuala Pilah died after being found unconscious at the hostel last night, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The student was taken to Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah (HTAN), where he was pronounced dead.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
“The post-mortem will be conducted at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar (HTJ), Seremban,” he said.
A social media post had earlier gone viral alleging that the student died after being assaulted at the school hostel.
However, the allegation that the student had been beaten has not been verified, and police are investigating to establish the actual cause of death.
Meanwhile, MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki called for immediate and firm action following the death of the student, identified as Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril of SMK Za’ba, Kuala Pilah, who was alleged to have been a victim of bullying.
Asyraf said he was deeply saddened by the incident involving Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril last night.
“This morning I am deeply saddened and affected by the news of the death of the late Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril, a student of SMK Za’ba, Kuala Pilah, who was alleged to have been a victim of bullying.
“It must be investigated immediately and transparently, and firm action must be taken!” he said in a social media post earlier today.

A source said the victim, the eldest of three siblings from Gemencheh, was alleged to have died as a result of bullying.
“That was based on the information I received. The victim was found unconscious at the hostel, and the incident was then reported to the warden. The hostel authorities subsequently took the victim to the HTAN emergency department for further treatment,” the source said.
“However, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital,” the source said early this morning.
A cousin of the victim said he had been active in sports and enrolled at the school following his achievements in handball. - September 26, 2026
