WHAT was intended to be a dinner outing between a 25-year-old woman and a male acquaintance ended in tragedy when she was allegedly beaten and raped at a house in Cheras on Wednesday.
According to a source, the victim was picked up by the male friend from her residence in Setapak at approximately 8.30pm under the impression that they were heading out for a meal.
However, the suspect instead drove the victim to a residential property in Cheras.
Once inside the premises, the victim alleged that she was physically assaulted and sexually assaulted by the suspect.
Fearing for her safety, the victim managed to covertly send a message to her boyfriend pleading for help and disclosing her location.
Upon receiving the distress message, the boyfriend rushed to the scene and rescued her from the property.
The victim was subsequently taken to the Batu 9 Cheras Police Station to lodge a formal report regarding the assault.
Police confirmation regarding the incident is currently being sought. - October 4, 2026
