Diesel sees the biggest increase in the latest fuel price adjustment, while eligible RON95 users continue paying RM1.99 a litre as the government maintains targeted subsidies - October 28, 2026

UNSUBSIDISED diesel prices will rise by 20 sen to RM5.27 a litre from Oct 29 to Nov 4, while eligible BUDI MADANI recipients will continue paying RM2.10 a litre under the targeted subsidy scheme.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF), in a statement on Wednesday, said unsubsidised RON95 and RON97 prices would each increase by 10 sen a litre to RM4.42 and RM4.90 respectively.

Despite the increases, eligible BUDI95 recipients will continue paying RM1.99 a litre for RON95, with the government absorbing RM2.43 per litre, equivalent to about 55% of the unsubsidised price.

BUDI Diesel recipients will receive a subsidy of RM3.17 a litre, or about 60% of the unsubsidised price, while continuing to pay RM2.10 a litre.

Prices under the Subsidised Petrol Control System and Subsidised Diesel Control System will also remain unchanged at RM2.05 and RM2.15 a litre respectively.

The ministry attributed the latest adjustment to movements in global petroleum prices, with crude oil rising last week amid concerns over potential supply disruptions in West Asia before easing slightly towards the end of the pricing calculation period.

MOF said the conflict in West Asia, including threats to energy infrastructure and shipping routes, continued to create uncertainty over petroleum supplies, with global prices expected to remain volatile in the medium term.

The government expects fuel subsidies to remain high at about RM40 billion next year, as announced in Budget 2027, to help cushion households and businesses from global price fluctuations.

Eligible Malaysians can continue buying subsidised RON95 and diesel using their MyKad, subject to monthly eligibility limits. - October 28, 2026
