NIBONG TEBAL — The Penang police uncovered a drug processing lab, following the arrest of two individuals in a raid at a house here last Wednesday.

It was reported that the drugs found were mixed and packed into 3-in-1 instant drink packets.

Seberang Prai Selatan district police Chief Supt Lee Chong Chern said based on tip-offs and intelligence, the police raided the double-storey house and arrested a 35-year-old man and his friend, a 29-year-old woman.

“During the raid, the man and the woman were in a room and following inspection, the police found 507g of ecstasy, 54g ketamine, 16.03g syabu, 6.58g yaba pills and various flavour liquids and drug processing equipment.

"The two suspects have the skill to cook and process the drugs which are then packed into the  3-in-1 instant drink packets,” he told a press conference here, today.

He said the suspects were believed to have carried out their activities since eight months ago, with the drugs sold in the state, especially at entertainment outlets.

The drugs are sold at a price between RM100 and RM200 a packet, he added.

He said the male suspect, who is an air-conditioner repairman, and the woman, who is unemployed, tested positive for drug use and had previous records.

“They are in remand seven days to assist investigations and the case is investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said. — Bernama, September 28, 2020
