MIRI – After a series of raids here over the last two days, police and state utility company Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) have busted a cryptocurrency trading syndicate and seized RM4.4 million worth of equipment.
City police chief Hakemal Hawiri today said 759 pieces of equipment were confiscated in the operation conducted at a commercial centre near the bypass to the airport highway.
“The syndicate operating in the shoplots has also been stealing electricity.
“However, the owners of the premises managed to escape before the raid started.”
Police and SEB are investigating the matter, and the premises have been sealed off.
SEB said it has suffered losses in electricity usage, and that supply to the premises in question has been cut off. – The Vibes, February 18, 2021
