MIRI – Sarawak PKR Youth is calling on voters and party members to use the upcoming 12th state election and the 15th general election to boot out “frog YBs” and corrupt politicians.
Its chief Saifunnizam Sam today said there is a need to penalise elected representatives who hop from one party to another.
Addressing state party members on social media chat groups, he said that the best way to punish traitors is through a public election.
“Punish traitors and defectors via the ballot box,” he said.
“This is the best way to kick out those YBs hopping around who are betraying their parties.
“It is not only the rakyat who can use the ballot box to punish these traitors, but also our PKR members who are not happy with these traitors."
Saifunnizam said PKR leaders at both state and national levels are angered by the defectors who have betrayed their parties.
“The state election is coming up, so too is the general election.
“Let us kick them out by voting them out,” he said.
On Saturday, Julau MP Larry Sng quit as state PKR chief and left the party to become a Perikatan Nasional-friendly independent.
This was followed by Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, who was Johor PKR deputy chief, confirming the next day that he had also quit the party to become an independent supporting the PN federal government.
State PKR Wanita commented on Monday that the latest betrayals show that PKR must return to its original agenda of bringing down corrupt politicians and governments.
Wing head Agnes Padan said what the party went through with Sng indicates that corruption is allegedly prevalent and must be wiped out.
“We must focus once again on ending political tyranny and corruption,” she said.
“The episode we went through on Saturday and Sunday is a reminder to all of us of that.
“Every section of our party grassroots in Sarawak should unite and return to our original struggle of bringing down corrupt politicians and corrupt governments.
“We must champion reformation for all once again,” she had said in her social media chats to PKR branches in this state.
Sng joined PKR in late 2019 and was appointed state party chairman last year following the departure of then-chairman Baru Bian, who fell out with party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Bian is said to have been on the side of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali during Azmin’s leadership tussle with Anwar.
Bian, who is Ba’kelalalan state assemblyman and Selangau MP, is now with Parti Sarawak Bersatu, the main opposition party in Sarawak. – March 3, 3021
