MIRI – Sarawak PKR has thrown its weight behind party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s move to persuade Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli to return to active politics.
Sarawak PKR information chief Abun Sui Anyit told The Vibes that state chapter chat groups have circulated messages discussing the return of Nurul Izzah and Rafizi, and that such talk has been positively received by the members.
“This is the latest talk circulating among the social media circles,” he said when interviewed.
“It is being circulated not just among PKR at the national level but also at the state level. The talk is also being shared among the communities outside of the PKR circle.
“In Sarawak, we will welcome Nurul and Rafizi back to active politics with great enthusiasm. Both of them have played pivotal roles in the formation of PKR and building up the party.
“Both were important figures in Sarawak who helped attract a lot of Sarawakians to join us.”
Anwar yesterday told Mingguan Malaysia that Nurul Izzah and Rafizi – who had retreated from active party roles about two years ago – were the type of leaders with character to become successors of the party leadership.
“We will convince them to come back to the struggle and our party’s platform,” he said.
“Even though they are quite stubborn, I respect their principle.”
Their return would be a boon to the party, said Abun, who is also Belaga PKR branch chief.
“Both were vice-presidents in the party, and both are pillars who help found the party. They have much bigger roles to come as they are both very popular.” – The Vibes, March 15, 2021
