PUTRAJAYA – The conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Klang tomorrow will only be in effect for its sub-district, not surrounding areas such as Kapar and Port Klang, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

Specific areas and localities under CMCO are still being finalised, while essential economic activities, such as food and wholesale markets, and restaurants are allowed to operate.

He said the decision to impose the CMCO in only the affected areas is based on advice from the Health Ministry and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Ismail added that to ensure the local economy is not affected, it has been agreed to allow wholesale markets to operate between 4am and 2pm.

Regular markets are allowed to open from 6am until 2pm while pasar tani (farmers’ market) will operate between 6am and midnight.

However, he said pasar malam (night markets) are not allowed to open.

Operating hours for restaurants and eateries, he said, are from 6am to 10pm.

They will only be allowed to operate for drive-through service, deliveries and take away, he said during a live video conference on his Facebook page.

Ismail Sabri added public transportation such as buses, taxis, and e-hailing services are allowed between 6am and l1pm.

“The National Security Council has agreed to keep Port Klang open.”
