Tuaran records 56 new Covid-19 cases, highest daily spike in Sabah

Authorities have expanded the CMCO to Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan and now in Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran.

KOTA KINABALU – Tuaran in Sabah recorded 56 new cases, the highest spike in a single day for the district. It now has a total to 155 active cases.

Overall, the state yesterday recorded six deaths and 274 new cases. Ten districts, including Tuaran, have been declared red zones by the state health authorities. 

Kota Kinabalu recorded 34 new cases, Putatan (10), Penampang (8) and Papar with 11. 

In the east coast, Sandakan recorded 48 new cases, Lahad Datu (17), Kunak (5), Semporna (36) and Tawau with 39. 

Yesterday, authorities expanded the conditional movement control order (CMCO) to Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan and now in Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran. 

All Sabah schools have also been ordered closed today until Oct 25.  

Other districts recorded new active cases are Kudat, Beluran, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang and Keningau with all the districts recorded one case each, while Beaufort recorded five new cases, to date. 

Only two of the 26 Sabah districts - Nabawan and Tongod - have yet to record Covid-19 cases. 

Meanwhile, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor last night confirmed testing positive for Covid-19.

He announced that all barter trade activities will be stopped starting Monday, and . 

He also announced a RM2 million food baskets for each of the six red zone districts under conditional movement control order. – The Vibes, October 10, 2020
