KOTA KINABALU – All barter trade activities will be temporarily stopped Monday onwards to help curb the spread of Covid-19, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor last night.
Hajiji, who has tested positive for Covid-19, said each of the six districts declared as red zones will receive RM2 million in food baskets.
The six districts are Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan, Sandakan,Tauran and Papar.
“The food items will be sent to all district disaster centres and distributed with the help of the police, volunteer corp and Health Department,” he said in a statement.
A total of 1,728 Covid-19 cases were recorded in the last nine days in almost all 25 districts in Sabah.
Ten districts have been declared red zones and the conditional movement control order (CMCO) has been implemented since yesterday. The CMCO is expected to end on October 22.
The state Disaster Management Committee has agreed to extend the lockdown at Tawau prison and Taman Ehsan prison quarters until October 25, he said.
