KUALA LUMPUR – Supporters of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have been told to not gather at any locations as the PKR president meets the Yang di-Pertuan Agong tomorrow at 3pm.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged for calm during the course of, and after, Anwar’s audience at Istana Negara.

“All PKR members are instructed to not hold any gatherings or to gather in any location, especially along major roads heading to Istana Negara.

“I also call on all Malaysians to keep calm when the session takes place, and to remain calm for any subsequent process that takes place after.

“PKR reminds all of its MPs to continue to render their service in their respective constituencies as well as to prioritise the people’s fate and welfare during this Covid-19 pandemic,” Saifuddin Nasution said in a statement today.

Anwar last Thursday said he had been granted an audience with the Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah tomorrow, and that he would be presenting his evidence of parliamentary support to the king.

“During the audience with Agong, I will present documentation of the strong and convincing majority of MPs as I have mentioned earlier,” he had said.

Anwar’s statement comes two weeks after he first claimed that he had majority support of the Dewan Rakyat to form a new government.

In a special press conference on September 23, Anwar had said he had the backing of close to two-thirds of MPs, and that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Perikatan Nasional had collapsed as a result.

However, he did not divulge exact figures, saying this would only be done after his audience with the Agong.

The meeting was however forced to be postponed as the Agong had to be admitted to the National Heart Institute for food poisoning and intervention treatment for a sports-related injury. – The Vibes, October 12, 2020
