KOTA KINABALU – In attempting to cross districts without police permission, 642 Sabah drivers were ordered to turn back and go home from May 10 till yesterday.
Sabah’s official Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun reiterated that those who are not working under essential services are not allowed to cross districts after 172 vehicles were ordered to turn back at roadblocks yesterday alone.
“A total of 21,161 vehicles have been inspected at 53 roadblocks state-wide. Ten people were issued compounds for attempting to cross districts today (yesterday).
“The police said that these individuals were trying their luck to cross districts without police permission,” he said in a statement.
Masidi then urged the public without permission not to attempt crossing district borders as doing so affects traffic flow and burdens enforcers at roadblocks.
He also said that 20 compounds were issued yesterday for SOP violations, among them, for failing to prepare equipment or proper records for MySejahtera (5), while one was for organising a wedding ceremony.
Sabah recorded 60 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, with the highest in Kota Kinabalu at 18 infections, followed by Tawau with 15.
Sabah’s Covid-19 situation is improving, with the number of districts categorised as green zones (zero active cases) rising from five districts to eight in the past week.
Sabah still has nine red-zone districts (more than 40 active cases), one orange-zone district (21-40 active cases) and nine yellow-zone districts (1-20 active cases). – The Vibes, May 16, 2021
