KUALA LUMPUR – Amid the current political tussle, all private meetings with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been postponed, sources told The Vibes.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was scheduled to have an audience 5pm tomorrow, will not be meeting the Agong.

This morning, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu issued statements saying their royal audience had been postponed.

This comes amid opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s bid to topple the current Perikatan Nasional administration led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Anwar had an audience with the Agong yesterday, saying he had the backing of more than 120 MPs. Dewan Rakyat has a total of 222 MPs.

The palace statement later said Anwar did not provide names to back his claim.

It added the Istana Negara is under semi-lockdown as result of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

The lifting of the semi-lockdown will be announced later. – The Vibes, October 14, 2020
