KUALA LUMPUR – Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has been called by police over a tweet involving Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s decision to wear a face shield instead of a mask in public.

According to Syed Saddiq, he has been asked to show up at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here at 12.30pm tomorrow for his statement to be taken.

“Hopefully, they will not confiscate my phone again,” he tweeted.

When asked on which section he was being investigated under, Syed Saddiq said police merely mentioned the tweet.

Last Saturday, Syed Saddiq questioned the police’s seizure of his mobile phone when he gave his statement at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here.

This was after he was questioned for about three hours by the authorities.

Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission had also apparently taken over access to Syed Saddiq’s Instagram account as part of an investigation into his comments on cow milk trader A. Ganapathy’s death while in police custody.

The former youth and sports minister was being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 503B of the Penal Code. – The Vibes, May 26, 2021
