KUALA LUMPUR – There is no need to replace Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin now, said Tan Sri Annuar Musa in response to calls by the opposition for a change of government.

Instead, a general election should be held once the Covid-19 situation eases, tweeted the Barisan Nasional secretary-general today.

Annuar, who is also Federal Territories minister, was commenting on news reports that Pejuang has nominated former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Muhyiddin’s replacement.

Fresh political drama was triggered when PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on September 23 announced that he has the backing of a majority of MPs to form a new administration.

BN lynchpin Umno has also come out to say it is considering withdrawing support for Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional coalition and will issue new conditions for continued cooperation. – The Vibes, October 19, 2020
