KUALA LUMPUR – The Special Committee on Pandemic Management has agreed to allow the transition of Terengganu to Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan effective this Friday.

In a statement today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the flexibility given to the east coast state will be the same as states that have entered Phase 3 previously.

“The latest standard operating procedures (SOP) will be updated by the National Security Council (NSC) on its website.

“However, following the relaxation of SOPs announced by the government recently, I find that people are starting to ignore the set SOPs.

“In this regard, I hope the people continue to abide by the SOPs to break the chain of Covid-19 infections,” he said.

He stressed that the government’s willingness to allow more flexibility does not mean that security measures that have been in place for more than a year can easily be ignored.

“Therefore, I hope that the concessions given can be utilised by the people with full discipline and a sense of responsibility.

“Adhere to every SOP set, wear a face mask, practise social distancing and constant maintenance of personal hygiene.

“Enforcement authorities will constantly monitor and will not hesitate to take severe action if any party violates the set guidelines,” he added.

The announcement comes as Langkawi is set to welcome tourists tomorrow – the same day fixed for Labuan.

On September 8, the authorities agreed to upgrade the Klang Valley to Phase 2 of the NRP effective last Friday.

Bernama, citing Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force statistics, said all three Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan have surpassed their target of 80% of their populations fully vaccinated as of September 2. – The Vibes, September 15, 2021
