KUALA LUMPUR – Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani’s service has been extended by another two years, until October 3, 2023.

Announcing the matter today, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has consented to the contract extension on the advice of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“I hope that with the extension, the police force will be able to resume their duties with vigour,” said Hamzah after handing over the appointment letter to Acryl Sani at Bukit Aman here.

Acryl Sani was appointed deputy IGP in August last year and took the helm in May upon the expiry of Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador’s contract.

Born on October 3 in Petaling Jaya, Acryl Sani holds a Master of Science (Management) from Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Civil Engineering.

He joined police on February 2, 1986 as an assistant superintendent cadet.

During his career in the force, he has directed Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Strategic Resources and Technology Department, and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.

It is learnt that Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim’s tenure will not be extended.

The Kedah-born Mazlan holds a Master of Science in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

He also served as Kelantan police chief, Prime Minister’s Department protection division director-general, and Kuala Lumpur top cop.

On Friday, Hamzah told a press conference that discussions on Acryl Sani’s tenure were ongoing and seen to be positive.

He said several processes must be undertaken, signed off on, and consented to by the Agong on the advice of the prime minister. – The Vibes, September 29, 2021
