KUALA LUMPUR – The government has yet to lift restrictions on large gatherings, but this does not seem to bother a number of Umno leaders who apparently took part in a reunion dinner last night.
The most recognisable face there was party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who was photographed having a meal with at least 50 others in a foyer.
It is understood the event took place at Yayasan Al-Falah at Country Heights, Kajang, after the Isyak prayers.
The Vibes obtained photos of the gathering from sources.
According to a source who was present at the event, the gathering was a reunion dinner for Umno Youth executive council members from the 1996 cohort.
This was when Zahid was the party’s Youth chief.
“We had the reunion to wish him good health,” said the source.
The Vibes has contacted Zahid for comments but has yet to receive a response at the time of publication.
As of today, the government has yet to announce the lifting of restrictions allowing large social gatherings. Selangor is currently under Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan.
The gathering was held just hours after the Shah Alam High Court granted an application to return Zahid’s passport to allow him to travel to Germany for treatment by a leading specialist in Munich.
Zahid will be allowed to hold on to his passport from October 26 until November 21 and will miss the tabling and voting for Budget 2022. – The Vibes, October 12, 2021
