KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya continues its campaign to convince individuals to get vaccinated as the Health Ministry revealed in Parliament today that those who have yet to be immunised are 17.9 times more likely to die from a Covid-19 infection.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today, pointed out that 28,809 deaths were reported from January 1 to November 27 this year.
“From our data analysis, the rise of deaths for those without a vaccine or yet to be fully vaccinated is 17.9 times higher than those who have completed two doses,” Noor Azmi said.
He said from the 28,809 reported deaths, 3,994 or 13.4% were fully vaccinated people.
Meanwhile, 5,817 or 19.5% had either received only one dose, or had two doses but were infected before the 14-day period ended.
“19,998 of the deaths, or 67.1%, comprised unvaccinated individuals,” Noor Azmi said.
The deputy health minister also touched on booster doses, pointing out Sarawak has the highest rate of recipients in the country.
He said up to November 27, 620,180 or 30.4% of adults have already received their booster shots.
The Health Ministry projects at least 2.042 million individuals in the state will receive booster doses. – The Vibes, November 29, 2021
