KUALA LUMPUR – A senior private undersecretary from the Prime Minister’s Department, allegedly linked to a viral video showing him arguing with the district police chief here over decisions made during the landslide which occurred at Taman Megah Jaya, Bukit Permai last Thursday, was called in for questioning by police last night.

Ampang Jaya police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said in a statement today that the 38-year-old man is the main suspect of the case and was called in at 8pm last night for his statement to be recorded.

The suspect, who is also an assistant commissioner in the Civil Defence Force (APM), was released three hours after being quizzed by the authorities.

Meanwhile, Farouk said the security guard who allegedly posted the initial video of the incident was also present at the Ampang district police headquarters last evening.

The suspect was detained after testing positive for methamphetamine as well as being in possession of a gambling application on his mobile phone.

“The man was brought to the Ampang court and placed under a three-day remand order for investigations,” he said.

He added that five officers and members of the Hulu Langat APM were called in to the Ampang police headquarters this afternoon to have their statements recorded regarding the video.

It was reported that police had launched investigations into a viral 55-second Facebook video that showed an APM personnel allegedly questioning Farouk for barring the team’s members from entering the landslide site in Taman Bukit Permai. – The Vibes, March 15, 2022
