PUTRAJAYA – The Health Ministry’s decision on whether to sign a contract with MySJ Sdn Bhd and Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd over ownership of the MySejahtera app is not subjected to the findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the decision lies with his ministry and their evaluation of the contract, as well as whether the ministry’s requirements are met.

“It depends on how fast we can finalise the contract, and when we can be clear so that it benefits all parties,” he said briefly during a press conference here today.

This is after the PAC had earlier this month conducted separate sessions with Khairy and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz on the decisions and procurements carried out by the government concerning the conception of the MySejahtera contact-tracing app.

This was followed by sessions with Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit director-general Datuk Seri Yusof Ismail, National Security Council Director-General Datuk Rodzi Md Saad and National Cyber Security Agency chief executive Rahamzan Hashim.

PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh last Saturday requested permission from Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun to allow lawmakers to one day debate its report on the acquisition of the MySejahtera app.

Wong had also urged the government to take into account its recommendations as well as the debate among lawmakers before making decisions with financial implications in regards to the development of the app.

Last month, the PAC revealed in a report that there were discrepancies in the ownership status of MySejahtera, sparking a public outcry over data privacy concerns. – The Vibes, April 27, 2022
