KOTA KINABALU – PKR should take disciplinary action against Datuk Afdlin Shauki for lodging a police report against the party’s election committee, said Sabah PKR Youth information chief Razeef Rakimin.

Afdlin’s actions, he said, has tarnished the image of the party, adding that the celebrity actor should always maintain discipline in an organisation, especially in politics.

“He (Afdlin) is not a ‘prima donna’; the election committee does not need to focus on him alone,” he said in a statement today.

On May 29, popular celebrity and director Afdlin joined the ranks of Datuk Hans Isaac and Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, among the celebrities who lost in the PKR polls.

This comes after his defeat to incumbent Setiawangsa PKR division chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in the contest for the post.

Yesterday, it was reported that Afdlin had lodged a police report at the Pudu police station in the capital against PKR’s election committee for alleged fraud and failing to act on complaints about the party election.

Razeef said that Afdlin appeared dissatisfied with his defeat and had made several claims about the party election.

“Afdlin should have been more mature after a year as a party member, more so that he tried to be a leader in PKR.”

He said that the election committee has given one explanation after another for Afdlin’s claims.

“In my opinion, if Afdlin is not confident with the transparency of the election committee, then it would be more ‘manly’ for him to pull out as a candidate for PKR’s central leadership council.

“It is amusing that he still attempts to grab the position and at the same time accuse the election committee of fraud,” he said.

Razeef also asked the party members to provide space for the election committee to conduct its responsibility.

“I am confident that the committee will look into each complaint that it has received”. – The Vibes, June 7, 2022
