KOTA KINABALU – The names of potential candidates from Sabah and Sarawak to sit on the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) have been submitted to the prime minister and Finance Ministry (MoF).

In a statement here, political secretary to the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Jonnybone Kurum said the matter was discussed during the Special Council on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MKMA63) meetings in December last year as well as April.

“Both the Sabah and Sarawak governments have forwarded their nominees, and the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division has already submitted the names to MoF,” said Jonnybone in response to Warisan deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking who called on the Sabah state government to emulate Sarawak and name a candidate to sit on the board of the IRB.

The Telupid assemblyman also stressed that all parties have done their jobs and that the relevant parties are in the process of appointing.

He added that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government has done their homework and settled the issue as stipulated in the MA63 and Constitution.

“The GRS government is very thorough, and they are very much aware and know their rights.

“They acted swiftly and accordingly.

“Don’t worry. GRS is way ahead and has taken care of all the matters,” Kurum added. – The Vibes, July 12, 2022
