SHAH ALAM – If the current government is to win the coming general election, it could lead to irreparable damage to the country, warned PKR stalwart Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail during the party’s national congress today.

The incumbent secretary-general urged party members to ensure victory for PKR and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to avoid major catastrophes.

Speaking to more than 2,600 delegates present, he said the PH coalition needs to be in a proper mind frame when entering the polls, with the single aim of securing Putrajaya.

“We must continue to strengthen PKR and PH and generate new strength when entering the 15th general election. We enter with one clear goal – to win and lead the new government for the sake of the rakyat and country – not to be the opposition.

“Allowing the current government to continue to be in power – what more for another term – is a huge disaster and the damage to the country will be irreparable.

“It is our duty to be prepared to ensure we claim victory,” he said in his welcoming speech at the Ideal Convention Centre here.

Saifuddin said this while highlighting the uncertainties the country faces today, including political instability, a strained economy, soaring inflation and burgeoning cost of living.

Other opposition leaders present at the congress today are DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, Upko president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. – The Vibes, July 16, 2022
