GEORGE TOWN – Another motorcyclist involved in the Sunday accident along Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway died today at 2.30pm, bringing the death toll to five. 

Mohd Haziq Harris, 34, died while receiving treatment at Penang General Hospital’s intensive care unit.

North East district police chief Soffian Santong said another accident victim has been allowed to return home while another is still receiving medical treatment.

“Muhammad Rahimi Shukor, 19, has been allowed to return home while Muhammad Shazwan Hafiz Mohd Abdul Sani, 22, is being treated at a private hospital,” he said in a statement today.

It is understood that Haziq will be buried at the Permatang Tok Elong Islamic cemetery in Kepala Batas tonight.

After the 4.30am incident last Sunday, one motorcyclist died of head injuries at Penang Hospital in the evening after three others died at the scene.

The dead were identified as 25-year-old Muhammad Eizreel Muhamad Roszaidi from Bayan Lepas; 22-year-old Muhammad Shazwan Hakim Mohd Abdul Sani from Pendang, Kedah; 19-year-old Ahmad Haikal Naif Ahmad Nazrul from Bayan Lepas; and Muhammad Harith Zikri Yusnizar, aged 17, from George Town. – The Vibes, July 19, 2022
