KANGAR – The Communications and Multimedia Ministry is looking to modernise five more Malaysia Broadcasting Department (RTM) in the future, said Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said this modernisation effort is vital as current technological changes require improvement in the facilities to deliver more quality services to the members of Keluarga Malaysia.

“We are still studying appropriate approaches to cover the costs of modernising RTM in Melaka, Johor, Penang, Selangor and Kelantan,” he said at a press conference in conjunction with the official opening of the Tuanku Syed Putra Broadcasting Complex here today.

Earlier Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail officiated the new RTM broadcasting complex, accompanied by Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Also present were Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek, Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man and state executive council members.

Annuar said the ministry has yet to determine the modernisation project’s costs, adding that he did not rule out the possibility that it will be implemented through privatisation without waiting for government allocations. – Bernama, August 23, 2022
