KUALA LUMPUR – The Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition will enter into an electoral pact with Muda in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15), said a source within the coalition.

Describing an electoral pact as “more practical and realistic”, the source revealed that the decision was made due to the proximity and urgency of GE15.

It was also revealed that the decision was made at a PH presidential council meeting last week.

The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity went on to explain that despite this development, Muda’s entry into the coalition had not been ruled out completely.

“What matters now is our shared goals in uniting to face Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional,” the source said.

The source, who has direct knowledge of PH-Muda negotiations, also pointed out that seat allocations between both parties were not finalised yet.

Meanwhile, Muda information chief Luqman Long said that his party had not received an official communique from PH.

“It’s a huge decision to be made on their part, and it’s only fair we give them time and space (to decide),” Luqman told The Vibes.

Last month, Muda announced its intention to join PH, with party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman saying informal negotiations had been taking place since the Johor polls in March.

Two weeks later, PH announced the creation of a task force to negotiate with Muda and Parti Sosialis Malaysia. – The Vibes, October 10, 2022
