KOTA KINABALU – Barisan Nasional (BN) is proposing two deputy prime ministers posts for East Malaysian lawmakers, with one each from Sabah and Sarawak, said the coalition’s chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said there was nothing wrong in having a total of three deputy prime ministers with one each from Sabah, Sarawak, and the peninsula.

“There had been no deputy prime ministers (from East Malaysia). Leaders from Sabah are only senior federal ministers.

“I want Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin to ask the (caretaker) prime minister to include having a deputy prime minister from Sabah, Sarawak and the peninsula in the (coalition’s) manifesto”.

“Our neighbour has six deputy prime ministers,” he told coalition members and supporters during the launching of BN’s Gelombang Biru (Blue Wave) election machinery in Kimanis today.

“If you want this, then make sure the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and BN dominate the election in Sabah.”

He said GRS-BN will be supported by BN at the federal level if the coalition receives the people’s mandate in the general election (GE15).

Zahid also proposed that the state’s annual allocation from the federal government be directly channelled to the state instead of federal agencies.

He also said roads directly linked to villages located along the Pan Borneo Highway will be built to ease travel within the state if BN wins the election. – The Vibes, October 23, 2022
