KUALA LUMPUR – A helicopter carrying its pilot and five passengers, who are medical officers, made an emergency landing in a forested area near Tanah Rata in Cameron Highlands.

The victims involved in the incident that happened around 1pm were reportedly safe with one sustaining light injuries while the emergency landing was due to bad weather.

Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the victims managed to contact the search-and-rescue team while waiting to be rescued.

“Based on initial information, the helicopter got stuck in the forest during the emergency landing. However, the victims are safe, with one having non-serious injuries,” he told Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.

“Their exact location has yet to be determined but the search-and-rescue team has been deployed.”

The helicopter was headed to Ipoh from Lojing, Kelantan.

The Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement that all six victims are in stable condition, of which four suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

It added that the helicopter involved was an Airbus AS355 F2, registered as 9M-SSW. – The Vibes, October 26, 2022
