KUALA LUMPUR – A win in Gombak parliamentary seat will pave the way for Perikatan Nasional (PN) to capture Selangor, said Muhammad Hilman Idham.

The Selangor PN secretary said Gombak will be the main “battleground” for the coming 15th general election (GE15), where incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali will go up against Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari from PKR.

In a speech during a party event at Taman Pinggiran Batu Caves tonight, Hilman rallied coalition members to aggressively campaign and canvas for votes and ensure a win in Gombak.

He said it was imperative, as recapturing Gombak will send a clear signal to the coalition to turn Selangor into one of its frontline states.

“I believe that Gombak will be the battleground (where the election result) will give the Selangor state government validity to dissolve its state assembly in the next few months.

“That is why we need to give a clear signal, the right signal.

“So, we have to make the right choice, because the result this coming November 19 will not only decide who leads the federal government, but will be an indicator for PN to take over Selangor in the coming state election," he said to roaring applause from nearly 1,000 attendees.

Hilman has been known to be a harsh critic of Amirudin, often lambasting the state leader’s policies and administration of the state.
