KAJANG – Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo has slammed caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for not having meetings with the Election Commission (EC) sooner on the election process in the event of major floods.
“I read in the news (yesterday) that Ismail Sabri said if there will be heavy rain and floods, he will discuss the (election) situation with the EC to figure out what needs to be done.
“But why didn’t he think of this when his party pushed for the election this month?
“Now that the election has started, you’re just starting to talk about it? What kind of government is this?” he said at the Bangi DAP fundraising dinner last night held at the Sg Long morning market here.
The organiser said 300 tables were sold, and the event raised RM36,974 in cash.
Gobind added that Malaysians deserve an explanation from the caretaker prime minister before he meets with the EC.

“When there are floods, everybody knows that many houses will get destroyed and the people are forced to be evacuated to community or school halls.
“Their belongings will be destroyed.”
His comment came after Ismail Sabri said yesterday that meetings would be held with the EC and related agencies to look for possible alternatives to proceed with the election process in the event of major floods.
The Bera incumbent added that the EC has the right to decide to stop the election process if massive floods hit the country.
Gobind was a three-term Puchong MP since 2008. This time, he will be running for Damansara, fending off challenges by Barisan Nasional’s Tan Gim Tuan (MCA) and Perikatan Nasional’s Lim Si Ching (Gerakan). – The Vibes, November 7, 2022
