KUALA LUMPUR – Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has expressed his concern over the current generation that he feels has to endure more hardship and difficulty in getting a headstart in life.
Dubbing the generation as the “sandwich generation”, as they are continuously hit with various problems, he said the situation is due to the rise in the cost of living.
“I am worried about the future of my generation. The young generation now is the ‘sandwich’ generation.
“Sometimes, these people have to do three jobs in order to cover expenses.
“Even if they reach 30, they cannot apply for a home loan.
“Their cars are on a lease. There is already pressure on them when they start their lives,” he said during Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) grand finale mega ceramah at Keramat AU2 here last night.
Also present were DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also PH candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat.
During his speech, Syed Saddiq also touched on research conducted by economists, showing that Malaysia will be hit by the impact of a global economic recession in 2023.
“Next year, we will face a global economic recession. This is according to experts’ studies.
“That’s why GE15 is important; it will determine the fate of our country for the next five to ten years,” said Syed Saddiq.
At the same time, the former youth and sports minister called on the public to select a team that is ready to govern Putrajaya in order to enable significant changes to be implemented.
In fact, the candidate for the Muar parliamentary seat is confident that PH and Muda are the right coalition to govern the country.
Thus, he said, voters need to choose the most suitable team for the party involved to prove that the next five years are the best period for the country.
