KUALA LUMPUR – The operators of Father’s Organic Farm have expressed their condolences over the fatal landslide at the campsite that has so far claimed 24 lives, saying they “humbly bow” to everyone who has been affected.

“Disasters are faceless, (but) love is with us! May the deceased rest in peace. (Our) heartfelt and deepest condolences to the families.

“(Our prayers are with) the survivors and those injured for (a quick) recovery. Please continue to take care,” the statement read, adding its thanks to all who are part of the search-and-rescue efforts.

While the comments section appeared to be filled with mourning citizens stating their well wishes to the family of victims, the administrator for the farm’s page has since limited who can comment on the post.

Earlier, it was reported that police had called the campsite operator and two of its workers yesterday to assist in probes into the landslide tragedy.

Prior to this, Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming had said that the campsite affected by the landslide has been operating without a licence from the Hulu Selangor District Council for at least two years.

He added that the operators involved could face up to three years in prison and a maximum fine of RM50,000.

The earthfall, measuring nearly 300m in length and 70m in height, had hit the campsite located in a canyon below the Batang-Gohtong Jaya road here around 2.42am on Friday.

Sixty-one people have been rescued while the search for another nine victims is ongoing, involving rescue personnel from various agencies, tracker dog units and heavy machinery. – The Vibes, December 18, 2022
