KUALA LUMPUR – A new coalition is needed to form the Perak state government as none of the parties have a clear majority, but Amanah will stand by Pakatan Harapan, said Perak Amanah deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

Nizar said Perak Amanah will stand by the decision of its party’s president and the PH coalition, but their priority is the people’s welfare and safety during this pandemic.

He said he is confident that Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah will decide wisely in solving the state’s political turmoil.

“With Barisan Nasional having 25 seats, DAP 16 seats, Amanah five seats, Bersatu five seats, PKR three seats, PAS three seats, and one Gerakan seat and another independent seat, none of the parties have a majority.

“PH has 24 seats right now, but 30 seats are needed to form a state government.

“I am unsure of the position of Perikatan Nasional/Muafakat Nasional in Perak because Umno/BN has clearly rejected Bersatu and PAS, while Bersatu and PAS also had split votes supporting Umno/BN yesterday,” the Sg Rapat assemblyman said.

Yesterday, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost a vote of confidence in the state assembly, with 48 of the 59 representatives against him.

He received 10 votes in support. One vote was spoilt.

The motion was tabled by Datuk Abdul Manaf Hashim (BN-Pengkalan Baharu). –The Vibes, December 5, 2020
