KUALA LUMPUR – Water supply in seven Selangor districts has begun to normalise, after four treatment plants were forced to suspend operations due to pollution in Sg Selangor last night.
The affected districts are Petaling, which has seen a 67% recovery, Klang/Shah Alam (34%), Gombak (42%), Kuala Lumpur (78%), Kuala Selangor (94%), Hulu Selangor (0%) and Kuala Langat (0%).
In a statement, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd corporate communications head Elina Baseri said supply had stabilised in 458 of the 861 areas affected as at 10pm.
“Air Selangor is making efforts to stabilise water distribution in the remaining areas.”
She said public taps and local service centres are being prepared for consumers still suffering dry taps.
Air Selangor calls on consumers to comply with health and safety standard operating procedures when collecting water from mobile tankers, service centres and public taps.

The Selangor Water Management Authority has pointed to a catfish pond in Sg Tinggi as the source of the latest pollution to hit the river.
The pond is among 57 at a 46.1ha aquaculture farm located 8.7km from the Rantau Panjang treatment plant, which was one of the four forced to close. – The Vibes, December 8, 2020
