KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Umno will send a team to support the party’s candidates in the six state elections on the peninsula.

State party chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman, said the team of 250 members will focus mainly on Selangor.

“Umno Sabah will deploy machinery to campaign, with each division sending ten representatives to manage each state constituency,” said Bung,

Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will hold their elections simultaneously on August 12.

Other than Sabah Umno, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat has also announced plans to send a team to Selangor.

Meanwhile, Warisan, which has already established a presence in the peninsula, has decided to distance itself from the state elections.

Sabah ruling party, Gagasan Rakyat, a component of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, has yet to decide whether it will send party members.

Both Warisan and Gagasan Rakyat are part of the unity government. – The Vibes, July 20, 2023
