PETALING JAYA – A businessman with the title “Datuk” and his accomplices were detained in a joint raid by a multi-agency task force at 34 locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor since Monday.

In the first raid, the task force led by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission seized cash valued at about RM38 million.

According to reports in Berita Harian, also seized was about 200kg of gold worth about RM60 million and 17 luxury cars.

MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrests.

The other agencies involved were police, immigration, customs, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Inland Revenue Board, and CyberSecurity Malaysia.

The operation, codenamed Op 825, is the first under the task force chaired by Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun. – The Vibes, July 26, 2023
