KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s Aidi Amin Yazid, who was replaced at the last minute by Izuan Ahmad Kasim for the Kota Damansara seat, said he was not upset nor discouraged by the turn of events.
“I am not upset at all. In fact, temperance is a very important virtue in any circumstance, more so in politics.
“We must always remember that the party is always bigger than any member and I respect the decision taken by PKR leadership.
“The leadership believes the youth wing should be given the opportunity and I accept it with an open heart,” he told The Vibes.
Aidi was previously named as the candidate for Kota Damansara, but was later replaced by Izuan for the August 12 polls.
Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the last-minute change was due to PKR not fielding youth candidates in Selangor.
“PKR Youth asked me to reconsider as there were no PKR Youth candidates contesting in Selangor… Izuan is the Selangor PKR Youth chief, so we think it’s appropriate,” said Anwar.
“Personally, I don’t need to be a YB to serve the community as I have been doing since eight months ago. Under my current capacity as a political secretary managing the Sg Buloh parliamentary service centre, I can also do plenty for the people and the community as a whole.
“I am still campaigning for the party and very loyal and supportive of all PH candidates. I will never fail them,” said Aidi.
He urged all party members to always be wise and not be overcome by emotions, especially when making important decisions.
“Sentiments can always be neutralised through wisdom and proper negotiations,” he added. – The Vibes, August 8, 2023
